Peacefully at Manoir Parisien Manor, Cornwall on Tuesday, December 24, 2019. Marie Madeleine Claire Laporte (nee Massie) [Bell Canada Pioneer] formerly of Westley’s Point and the Palace Retirement Community, Alexandria; age 84 years. Beloved wife of the late Darl Laporte. Loving mother of the late Robert Laporte. Dear daughter of the late Darcino Massie and the late Berthe Proulx. Dear sister of Rita Lauzon (late Reynald) of Alexandria and Lucien Massie of Montreal. Predeceased by brothers and sisters: Pauline Ranger (late Paul) of St. Eustache, Léo Massie (Marie-Rose) of Alexandria, Henri Massie (Lucille) of Alexandria, Jean Massie (Doris) of St. Eustache, Eugène Massie (late Cécile) of Montreal, Yvette Forgues (Roger) of Cornwall, Aline Lalonde (late Aimé) of Kingston, and Bruno Massie (late Laurette). She will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews, cherished friends as well as her family at Manoir Parisien Manor. Madeleine’s family thanks the staff of Manoir Parisien Manor for their gentle care and kindness over the past five and a half years. Relatives and friends may call at the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., 114 Main St. South, Alexandria (613-525-2772) on Saturday, December 28, 2019 from 10 to 11 am. A Liturgy of the Word will be celebrated in the Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday December 28, 2019 at 11 am. Spring Interment in the St. Joseph Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations to the Glengarry Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family. As a Memorial to Madeleine a tree will be planted in a memory woods. A tree grows-memories live.
