Bessie Jean Scott
Scott, Jean 1922-2019. Jean, passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 29, at the Bruyere St.
Vincent Hospital (Ottawa, ON), with family by her side. Jean Scott (Mather) loving wife of Robert
Douglas Scott (2004) is survived by her son Bob and his wife Judy of Collingwood, daughters Shelley and
her husband Dave Malinen of Sudbury, Leslie and her husband Dan Merrick of Sudbury and Susan and
her husband Ron MacLean of Ottawa. She was a loving grandmother to Elizabeth, Jodie (Russ),
Stephanie (Josh), Pamela (Kelly), Jessica, Lauren, Scott, Joseph and Michael and her great grandchildren
Rowan, Troy, Julianna, Russell, Macarthur, Audrey and Jamie. Predeceased by sisters Irene, Ada and
brother Bill.
Jean lived a long full life in Port Elgin enjoying the birds and other wildlife at her door. She was a strong,
independent woman who enjoyed sharing her home with family and friends. An accomplished baker
whose tea biscuits, pies and chocolate cake were legendary. She enjoyed bridge and made many long-
term friends at the bridge club.
Jean considered her family to be her greatest legacy.
