It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the passing of James (Jim) Browne, age 75 years. Jim passed peacefully away at the Lion’s Manor, Placentia on Tuesday, December 23, 2019.
He was predeceased by his parents James Sr. and Nancy Browne, his brother Dennis and wife Bonnie. Jim leaves to mourn his loving wife of 51 years, Cheryl, his three daughters: Gina Manuel (Mike), Jillian Smith (Leo), & Jennifer Doyle (Deon), his brothers: Gary Browne (Linda) and Paul Browne (Ann Marie). Jim’s pride and joy were his grandchildren: Shane (Julia) and Joshua Manuel, Madison and Matthew Smith, Ethan, Tyler and Annabella Doyle, and great grandchild Theo Manuel, who always made him smile, will miss him dearly. He also leaves to mourn his sister- in-law Sylvia Long, Aunt Rita Hickey, a large number of extended family members, and an extensive circle of close-knit friends who’s love and support have been unwavering. Jim had a great passion for life and laughter, and his bold mirth was infectious to all around him. He was a hard worker, dedicated to his family. His strong faith carried him through his life, and now carries him home.

At Jim’s request, cremation has taken place, resting at Dunphy’s Funeral home, Holyrood. Visitation on Friday, December 27th, 2019 from 2-4 pm, and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Church, Holyrood on Saturday, December 28th, 2019 at 2:00 pm with inurnment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Holyrood. The family offers special thanks to his long-time family doctor, Dr. Sharon Ripley, caregivers, Winnie, Judy and Natalie, and the staff of Lion’s Manor, Placentia.
Flowers gratefully accepted, or donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Newfoundland.
