Geraldine McShane 19272019

Geraldine McShane
MCSHANE- Geraldine Mary (McAleenan) of Milltown, NB passed
away on December 17, 2019 at the Charlotte County Hospital, St.
Stephen, NB surrounded by her loved ones. Affectionately
known as “Gerry”, she was born August 27, 1927 in
Digdeguash, NB. Loving wife of 48 years of Carl E.
A loving wife, mother and great-grandmother, Gerry was the
matriarch of the McShane family for 73 years to the day. Her
passions including spending time with her growing family, baking and
reading. She touched so many people through her dedication
to her community and the Catholic Church by supporting many events and
fundraisers for the church, the Chocolate Fest, Rotary Club,
etc. She was known for her jams, pickles and above all else,
her famous clover leaf rolls. She was as sweet as they come,
but when it came to family, she was a fierce protector and believer in
family above all else. With such a large family, many
claimed to be her favourite to which she would reply “you are
all my favorite”. This is a testament to her
stellar mothering skills and ability to make those around her feel
loved. She Saw the humour in life and especially got a
twinkle in her eye when playing with her many grand children and great
grandchildren. And boy, did those blue eyes ever sparkle.
She laughed easily and loved heartily. She enjoyed nothing
more than a prank or playing card games even if it meant cheating on
occasion often for her own entertainment. She embraced her
own independence including obtaining her driver’s license at
age 65 and enjoyed the thrill (and sometimes speed) of driving right
up to the day of her illness. She moved through the world
with a child-like enthusiasm as she travelled later in life to many
places including Ireland, France, the Caribbean and Alaska to name a
few. She was a symbol of strength, resilience and
perseverance to here family and all that knew as she faced many
challenges that came with raising a vibrant brood of 12, especially
how she handled the many losses she experienced in her 92
years. She was the example her family will draw upon as they
grieve her loss to do so with grace and honour.
She is survived by her loving children, Mark (Carol), Gary
(Jane), Joey (Denise), Timmy (Peter), Kim Avery, Donna, Bernadette
O’Brien (Mark), Jeff (Krista), 24 beloved grandchildren, 32
great grandchildren. She is also survived by sons-in-law,
Marcel Babineau and Stick Clark, several nieces, nephews and many
other close relatives and friends.
Pre-deceased by parents, husband, daughters, Linda Babineau,
Kathy Clark, Anna James, son, Danny, grandsons, Kirk Clark, Adam James
and close companion of 15 years, John Trainor. She is also
pre-deceased by 15 siblings and many in-laws.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated from the St. Stephens
Catholic Church, 407 Milltown Blvd., St. Stephen, NB on Saturday,
December 21, 2019 at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be held at

Stephen, NB on Friday, December 20, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8
