After the passing of her mother at age 2 years, Betty would come to
live with her great aunt and uncle, Emily ans Clifford Clark of
Waterbury, CT. They would assume her guardianship. At age 10 years,
she would return to New Brunswick to study at Hotel Dieu Saint Joseph
in St-Basile, NB, until the end of high school.
Betty was a devoted housewife and mother to her seven children. She
was an active member of the CWL and the Gladwyn Women’s Institute. She
was fluent in both French and English. She also enjoyed playing the
organ and led the choir at both Red Rapids and St. Mary’s with her
playing for several years.
Betty loved books and was an avid reader. She also loved her
crosswords. She was a gardener and spent many summers hours amongst
her perennials. Betty took great pleasure sitting in her sunroom
watching the various beloved songbirds at their feeders. But her
greatest love was cooking, which she did beautifully for her family,
all three generations. Her creations were enjoyed by many on various
occasions and culminated with a Christmas Eve feast, after Midnight
Mass, wish was enjoyed by family, friends, and neighbors.
