It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved Mother and Grandmother Edna Kathleen Baker fondly known as Kaye. Kaye passed away on December 23rd, 2019 in Bonavista, NL at the age of 74. Kaye was married for over 50 years to her loving husband Winston Baker who passed away in 2016. She is survived by her children, Helen (Ian) Smith of Burlington, ON, son Edmund (Dawn) Baker of Elliston, NL, and son David (Nancy) Baker of Fort McMurray, AB. Sister Jessie Ryder of St. John’s, Peggy (Edward) Duffet of Bonavista, brother Fred (Sandy) Whiffen of Bonavista, and sister-in-law Delores of Bonavista, NL.
Loved by her grandchildren, Kristen, Olivia, Benjamin, Connor and Quinn and many nieces and nephews especially her beloved niece Stephanie who referred to Aunt Kaye as her second mom.
Kaye was born in Bonavista, NL to Edmund Whiffen and Mary Francis (Stagg) Whiffen on June 9, 1945. She was predeceased by her brother Calvin (Margaret) Whiffen, brother Marvin Whiffen and, sister Daphne Broughton.
Kaye was known to love a good game of cards and winning at bingo. She will be missed deeply by her family and friends. Special thanks to all of her care-givers and to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Bonavista Peninsula Health Centre.
“But we remember now in love, Your life from start to end, And we’re just glad we knew you, As Mother, and as Friend.”
There will be no visitation. An interment of ashes ceremony will be held in summer of 2020 for family and close friends.
