Edith Alice Baker (nee Taylor)
Daughter of the late Albert G. Taylor and his wife, the former Rosa M. Havers, both of Norwich, England. Predeceased by her brothers Albert, Walter, William and Harry and her sisters Rosa (Walter) Tucker and Minnie (Harry) Ing. Edith was born in Morrisburg on November 4, 1919 and attended local schools. Always athletic, she played on the M.C.I. basketball team and the Morrisburg girls hockey team. In 1933 and 1934 she won the M.C.I. girls athletic cup. In 1935 she went to work for Bell telephone as an operator in the Morrisburg office. In 1941 she married George Summers Baker who predeceased her in 2000. Edith leaves her son Robert G. “Bob” Baker and his wife Laurie of Johnstown and her daughter Dana Lynn (Scott Estelle) of Weedsport, N.Y. She was predeceased by her other son Richard W. “Rick” Baker in 2017. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Shane (Faith) Estelle, Shannon (Charlie) Montgomery and her great-grandchildren Kelan, Gavin and Ceara Montgomery -all of Bolton, MA. Edith also leaves her nieces and nephews Judy Madden of Morrisburg, Barbara Baker of Calgary, Leslie Tucker, Albert and Jan Hampshire, all of Florida.
Funeral Arrangements
A memorial service will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Morrisburg on Saturday, December 7th at 11 a.m. followed by a luncheon. Interment of cremated remains will be at St. James Anglican Cemetery in Morrisburg. Donations to the Humane Society would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
