Obituary of Douglas Gerald Irvine
IRVINE, Douglas Gerald (Doug) – longtime teacher and coach at Centennial SS, passed away Saturday, November 30th, 2019 at age 74. Son of the late Gerald and Marjorie Irvine of Stirling. Beloved husband of Nancy (nee Reeb) Irvine for 50 years. Loving father of Stuart Irvine (Cynthia Kinsman) of Comox, BC and Catherine Irvine (William Poole) of Hong Kong. Adored Grandpa of Matthew, Michael, David and Andrew Irvine, Nora and Darina Poole. Doug is survived by his aunt, Muriel (Belcour) Dafoe of Quinte Gardens and many cousins. He is also remembered by Nancy’s sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins. Doug was a member of the Bay of Quinte Golf Club for many years, as well as the Belleville Bridge Club and Quinte Curling Club. He was an avid fan of all things athletic and loved visiting with friends and family. His sociability and good humour will be missed. Cremation has already taken place. The family will receive friends at the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West, Belleville (613-968-2273), on Thursday, December 5th, from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. Memorial Service will be held at College Hill United Church, 16 North Park Street, Belleville, on Friday, December 6th, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. Spring inurnment Eggleton-Clarke Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to Belleville General Hospital Foundation (for Dr. MacIntosh’s Cancer Clinic), College Hill United Church or Hospice Quinte would be appreciated by the family. There is a parking lot behind the church as well as several parking spaces at the front of the church.
Street parking is available on Donald Street and Reynolds Crescent (please do not block driveways). Carpool if possible.
