Charles George Burman of Thedford died unexpectedly in his home on Friday, December 27, 2019, in Thedford at the age of 64.
Charlie was the loved partner of Linda Zavitz for over 30 years, raising their family of Caitlin (Wayd Pitfield) and Charleen (Dean Werden) and reflecting on the life they built as a couple over the years and watching their family grow with the addition of their grandson Jordan Pitfield. A family man, caring spouse and dedicated worker, always available to take on a task for family or friends in need.
Charlie grew up the oldest in the family and will be missed by his brother Tom and sister in law Carol Burman. Loved brother in law of Ronnie and Linda Zavitz, Sheila and Dale Elliot, Shirley and Harvey Jamieson, along with many nieces and nephews. Charlie is predeceased by his parents, George and Marian Burman.
Some of Charlie’s brightest smiles were witnessed at his two daughters’ weddings. Friends described his daughters to be the light of Charlie’s life and their milestones of weddings and graduations of both his girls, including the arrival of his first grandchild were some of his proudest moments. Charlie told his girls how proud he was of the men they married. He felt his two sons in law were great men, having much in common with him and was proud in the knowledge that they would take care of his girls always.
Charlie enjoyed celebrating his first grandchild Jordan and spending time with him. Jordan brought Charlie many laughs and wonderful moments from the day he was born and Charlie simply enjoyed watching Linda play many activities with Jordan doing art, exploring nature and being creative and imaginative together. An abundantly proud Grandpa, Charlie was able to take Jordan recently to a closed job site just to show him the equipment they operated at work from the parking lot. Charlie loved sitting at the table and talking with his grandson Jordan while he played and was so proud of how smart this young boy was.
Charlie enjoyed spending time with his close friends in his garage over a cold coors light, sharing his very unique and blunt sort of sense of humour which he carried with him everywhere and in all situations. He spent many weekends doing work with his friend and brother in law Harvey Jamieson for their families and was very proud of his many years of work in construction dedicated to his job and proud to share about his various excavating jobs across southern Ontario. A man who enjoyed simple pleasures, Charlie was happy to simply spend time at the Jamieson cottage in Tobermory his favourite place to go.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Thedford Royal Canadian Legion Branch 278, from 2pm-4pm to have a drink and share some memories of Charlie on Saturday, January 11, 2020.
