Barbara Murison 2019

Death Notice
MURISON, Barbara – Peacefully at University Hospital on Monday, December 23, 2019, Barbara Cresswell Murison of London in her 78th year. Beloved wife of Charles Leslie Murison. Loving mother of James and his wife Charry of Markham and John and his wife Katie of Toronto. Dear grandmother of Matthew, Nicole, and Alexander. Beloved aunt and great aunt. Sister of the late Joyce Heald.
Growing up in England, Barbara was the first member of her family to attend university, when she began her studies at Cambridge in 1960. She met her future husband Leslie there on both of their first days at the university, and they were married in 1963. They emigrated to Canada a few months later, taking a transatlantic ship to Montreal, with a train on to London.
Barbara’s academic focus was on history and she completed her PhD in that subject in 1978. Her passion for history became her career as she was a history teacher at Alma College in St. Thomas, Head of History at St. Margaret’s School in Edinburgh, Scotland, and a History Professor at Western University in London.
While Barbara was extremely dedicated to her work, she will be remembered by those who loved her for her intelligence, warmth of personality and always present sense of humour.
A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Victorian Order of Nurses would be appreciated.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Barbara Murison 2019..
