Clara Stella Louise Crawford
1933-2019
It is with great sadness that the family of Clara Crawford announces her passing, on December 11, 2019, at Parkland Integrated Health Center. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 16, 2019, at 1 PM at the Canwood Elks Hall. Interment will follow at the Canwood North Cemetery.
Clara Louise Head was born to Eugene and Margaret (Otto) Head in Nestledown, Saskatchewan. She was raised in Stump Lake area and later lived in Debden and then moved to Canwood.
Clara met Roy Crawford in Canwood while she was working at the hotel and a few months later they married, on horseback, on December 29, 1979. Since then the two have been inseparable. Clara and Roy remained farming in Mont Nebo until 2016 when they retired to Canwood.
Clara was an amazing individual! In 1983, Clara lost her hand in a combine accident. This never slowed her down. She continued to work alongside Roy on the farm as well as competing in both penning (with Roy) and barrel racing placing several times. Clara’s love of horses was a constant in her life from a young age until the day she passed.
Clara passed away at the Shellbrook Hospital on December 11th after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Clara is predeceased by her parents Eugene and Margaret (Otto) Head, her brother Gerald Head, her brothers-in-law Donald Crawford, and Ray Crawford; her sisters-in-law Lucy Betker, Vera Crawford, and Della McKay.
Clara is survived by her husband Roy Crawford, her sister Vera Shouldice (Kelvin), her brother-in-law Arthur Crawford, her sister-in-law Joyce Fusick, and numerous nieces and nephews.
