Troy Daniel Simon
Troy Daniel Simon – age 53, of Kentville, passed away on
Saturday, November 9, 2019, at home. Born in Fort Fairfield, Maine, he
was a son of Mary Simon, USA and the late Daniel Stephens. Troy had
been employed in the kitchen at the Anvil, Wolfville and the Kings
Regional Rehabilitation Centre, Waterville, later working, for 17
years, as a cook at Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. Troy
was entrenched in his Mi’kmaq culture. He was fluent in the
Mi’kmaq language, enjoyed making dream catchers and fixing
watches. He is survived by a son, Kyle, Annapolis Valley First Nation
[his mother, Goldy (Coleman) Simon, Annapolis Valley First Nation]; a
girlfriend, Penny Long and her son Dakota, Kentville; sisters, Shirley
(James) Morris, Eskasoni; Patsy Stephens and Debbie Stephens, both of
Millbrook; Jean Stephens (John MacLeod), Shubenacadie; Kelly Stephens,
Boston; brothers, Calvin Simon-Smith (Angela Perley), New Brunswick;
Bryon Stephens, Boston; Michael Stephens, Millbrook; several nieces,
nephews and extended family members. He was predeceased by a brother,
Gordie (Violet) Stephens. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday
November 15, 2019 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where
the funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 16,
2019. Burial will take place in the St. Bernadette Cemetery, Annapolis
Valley First Nation. A reception will follow in the Annapolis Valley
First Nation Community Hall. Donations in memory may be made to
Canadian Mental Health Association or the Crosbie House Society.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral
Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
