Obituary of ANN FUSAKO BACKELAND
ANN FUSAKO BACKELAND
(SUGA)
March 25,1945 – November 27, 2019
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ann at the St. Boniface hospital on November 27, 2019. She will be greatly missed by her husband Bert, daughter Regan (Brad) and son Jeff (Denise). As well as her grandchildren, Sloane and Rowan. She will also be missed by her extended family Sheila (Pita), Jim (Laurie) and David (Karen), her nephews Ryan and Robert (Linda) and her cousins and relatives from Winnipeg, Kenora, and Thunder Bay, especially Amy and Farrell. She was predeceased by her parents Yoshio and Fumiko Suga and her sister Doris and brother Robert.
Ann was born in Lethbridge, raised in Thunder Bay, spent her married life and raised her family in Winnipeg. Ann cooked many a holiday feast for family gatherings, her turkey stuffing being a perennial favourite. Never one to pass up a trip to the casino, she enjoyed going regularly to try her luck. More than anything, she treasured time spent with her family, visiting and sharing a good meal. She was a constant source of love and support for her family, always available to talk and listen. She also treasured time spent with her grandchildren, who lovingly called her Obaachan.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. A private interment will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff at ACCU St. Boniface hospital for their care and support.
In lieu of flowers if you so desire, donations in memory of Ann may be made to Diabetes Canada or a charity of your choice.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of ANN
