Catherine Geraldine MacDonald
1935-2019
MacDonald, Catherine Geraldine, age 84, of Somers Road,
Antigonish, passed away on October 18, 2019 at St. Martha’s
Regional Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
Born September 2, 1935 in Antigonish,
she was the daughter of the late Bill and Margaret (MacKay) MacPherson
from Somers Road.
Mrs. MacDonald worked for many years
in the area’s local restaurants. She was dedicated to her family. She
loved to laugh and was an avid bingo player.
The family would like to express their
sincere thanks to the staff of St. Martha’s Palliative Care
Unit for the care and compassion provided toward Mom during her
illness.
She is survived by sons, Lawrence
(Mary), John (Annette), James (Deanna), Donald (Donna), Robert
(Bernardine); daughters, Catherine (Bernard) Hughes, Bonnie (Shawn)
Corning, Bernardine, and Laurie (Brad) Heimer.; brother, Bill (Elaine)
MacPherson, foster brother, Jimmy; sisters, Betty (Jack Farnell)
MacDonald, Donna (Ernie) Bellefontaine, Colleen (Dennis)
d’Entremont; sisters-in-law, Kaye MacPherson and Margaret
Farrell; 17 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and many nieces and
nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband,
Lawrence “Laurie”; brothers, Alexander “Ackie”,
Robert, and Kevin; and sisters, Garnita and Shirley.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral
Mass will take place Tuesday at 2:00pm in St. Ninian Cathedral,
Antigonish, Reverend Donald MacGillivray presiding. Burial in the
parish cemetery.
