Alma Pauline’s Obituary
NEW GLASGOW – Alma Pauline MacLeod, 96, New Glasgow, went to be with her Saviour on Wednesday, October 9, 2019.
Born in New Glasgow on November 12, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Charles Hugh and Emily Mabel (Misner) Dickson. During the Second World War, she was employed with the British Admiralty Technical Mission in Trenton as a shell inspector and upon release, with the Goodman Company Ltd. Upon raising her children, she returned to the workforce and was employed with Woolworths and Woolco where she enjoyed many years, retiring in 1985. Alma possessed an unwavering faith in her Lord and was an active member of First United Baptist Church, New Glasgow for many years. She had taught the preschool Sunday school class and Mission Band, served on the Welcoming and Decorating committee, and was an assistant Cub leader. Alma was passionate about Missions and was a life member of the Theo Dunn Women’s Missionary Society. She enjoyed crafting, gardening, baking, Swedish Weaving, bowling with several leagues and skating well into her 80’s. Alma was a devoted wife to her late husband of 62 years, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her little princess.
Surviving are sons, Leslie Charles MacLeod, Calgary, Alta.; H. D. Wade (Pia) MacLeod, Ottawa, Ont.; grandchildren, Benjamin, Craig, David, Laura, Alexander and Samantha; great-granddaughter, Grace; sister, Gladys Swan, Campbelltown, N.B.; son-in-law, Norman Regier, Fall River; brother-in-law, Norman (Kitty) MacLeod, Dartmouth; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by husband, Harvey Donald MacLeod; daughter, Patricia Regier; brothers, Douglas Dickson and Leslie Dickson; several sisters and brothers-in-law.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Oct.14th in the chapel with Rev. Dr. Morley Shaw officiating. Private family interment will be in Abercrombie Cemetery.
