Vernon Leroy Woody

It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vernon Woody on September 8, 2019 in West Kelowna, BC.
Vern was an outdoorsman from his early teen years, skipping school to go fishing and guiding dudes from the USA on hunting expeditions via horseback with his older brother. He was employed at Jasper National Park, firstly at the sawmill, then running snowplows, heavy equipment and building campgrounds and roads to outlaying Warden’s cabins. He then hired on with CN Railway working in Edmonton, Jasper and Grande Prairie.
Vern was predeceased by his parents, 4 sisters, 3 brothers and daughter Tammy. He will be missed by his loving wife Bernice, daughters; Jolene Olsson, Wendy McQueen and son Vernon Glen Woody, granddaughters; Candice (Jason) Blair, Kelly (Pat) Lilley, Mandy (Matt) Richardson and Aimee McQueen, grandsons; Brandon (Shantelle) Woody, Torrey (Vanessa) Woody and Kole Woody, 5 great-grandchildren; Connor, Hunter, Sawyer, Mara and Madelyn and his brother Ron (Karen) Woody.
Vern’s ashes will be interned in the family plot in the Westbank Cemetery at a later date.
