Robert Williams

Robert (Bob) Nelson Williams, of Coaldale, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer on September 17, 2019 at the age of 71 years.
Bob was born August 24, 1948 to John (Jack) Elliott Williams and Jessie Crawford Hepburn. Bob was a member of the Governor General’s Footguards and was very proud to have participated in the changing of the guard on Parliament Hill as part of his military service. Bob had a keen interest in science, pursuing a career in microbiology as a research technician for Agriculture Canada. He started his career in Ottawa and eventually moved to Lethbridge. His passion, however, was for the outdoors; he greatly enjoyed canoeing, hiking and camping in the summer, hunting in the fall, and skiing in the winter. He was an avid reader, greatly enjoying anything historical and supported the local artistic community as a member and volunteer at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery (SAAG).
Bob is survived by his wife Lyn Paterson, by his son Jeff (Nora), his daughters Jennifer (James) and Amy (Brenn), his grandchildren Jacob, Adam and Jasmine, and brothers John and Dave (Christine).
Bob was predeceased by his father Jack, mother Jessie and younger brother Tom.
As per Bob’s wishes no public service will be held. A private family celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 20. The family asks that you join us in your own way by raising a glass, sharing a memory and celebrating Bob’s life.
Thank you to all the health care staff at St. Michael’s Health Centre for their wonderful and thoughtful care.
In memory of Bob, donations may be made to St. Michael’s Foundation, 1400 – 9 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 4V5.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Robert Williams..
