DIXON, Robert Albert “Bob”
It is with great sadness and fond memories that the family of Albert Robert Dixon, announce his passing on September 2, 2019, at Sherbrooke Community Centre, with family by his side. Robert was born in 1921 to Edith and Arthur Dixon in Sibbald, AB. At a young age the family moved to Gowanbrae to homestead. Bob grew up there and helped with the family farm. At 18, Bob enlisted in the Army and remained a soldier until the end of the war. He returned to the Kinistino area and began his career in carpentry. Bob married Ruth Goulden in 1950 and had 4 children. His carpentry career took him to lumber yards in Cudworth, Saskatoon and Kindersley, where he opened his own company. Ruth passed away in 1970. Many houses were built in the Kindersley area and shingling sheds was an ongoing challenge. His love of hunting and fishing was clear to everyone who knew him. Bob married Julie Kral in 1973 and they continued the business until his retirement in 1986. Moving to Creston was a dream they both wanted and to an acreage where they could raise the animals they both loved. In 1996 they moved back to Saskatchewan to be closer to family and friends. They built their home in Aberdeen, and remained there until their health failed. Robert was predeceased by his parents and all his siblings, as well as his wives Ruth and Julie and 1 infant grandson. He is survived by his 4 children and their families, 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service took place at Sherbrooke Community Centre in the Tawaw Centre at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2019. In Lieu of flowers, the family would ask that a donation be made to the Alzheimer’s Society. Arrangements in care of John Schachtel – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Robert Bob Dixon..
