It is with great sadness that the family of Mildred Jean Baker (Fleming) announce her passing at Four Counties Hospital on September 4th at the age of 93. Born on May 6, 1926, she lived most of her life in Aldborough Township. Predeceased by her husband, Harold Milton Baker and brothers, John McNeil Fleming and Peter Anderson Fleming. Survived by sister, Donna Christina Miller (Fleming) and sister-in-law, Louella Fleming (Green), many nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. Beloved mother of Gordon Michael Baker (Annette Webber) of Carlisle and Kathyrn June Baker (Snodgrass) of Tucson, AZ.
Millie was a Registered Nurse, Hairdresser and accomplished seamstress and fabulous cook and homemaker. She was deeply involved in their successful Poultry Operation with her husband, Harold. Millie loved reading and gardening and bird-watching and dispatching predators at her leisure. In her younger years, she was an active member of the EUB church and the United Church of Rodney. Millie sang with the Trio and lead singing in the choir.
Special thanks to the wonderful nurses at Four Counties Hospital and the medical team in West Lorne. Deepest thanks to Agnes and Steve Simon and Kim and Ian Fleming for their love and attention and care to Millie over the last several years.
Visitation will take place at Denning’s of Rodney on Friday, September 6th from 4-6 pm and Saturday, September 7th from 12-1 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with interment at the Rodney cemetery.
