Marylyn’s Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Marylyn Marie Laurendeau age 72 of Amherst announce her passing on Thursday August 29, 2019 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Amherst with her loving family by her side after a courageous battle of cancer. Born in Brooklyn, Queens County, NS she was the daughter of the late Jean and Frances (Oickle) Laurendeau. Marylyn was a devoted member of the Revival Centre Church. She worked for many years serving others, doing personal care in private homes and also as a patient sitter in the local hospital. She loved to keep her hands busy with knitting and especially enjoyed going for her walks around the town of Amherst. Marylyn will be deeply missed by her sons; Terry Hartlen of Amherst, Joseph Hartlen of Orillia, ON and Scott Hartlen (Paulette) of North Williamston, NS; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Cecile (Basil) Dodge, Waterville and Donna (Stephen) Cole Milton, NS; brothers, Gerald, Waterville, Philip (Virginia), Ontario, Richard (Dale) and Robert (Vicky) both of Milton NS, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Marylyn was predeceased by her former husband Aubrey “Bub” Hartlen and one brother John. A time of visitation for friends and family will be held on Sunday September 1st, 2019 from 2:00 – 4:00pm and 6:00 – 8:00pm in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St. Amherst, 902-667-9906. Funeral service for Marylyn will take place on Monday September 2nd, 2019 at 1:00pm at Revival Centre Church, 172 Robert Angus Drive, Amherst, NS with Rev. Jonathan Cole officiating. Reception to follow in church lower level. Internment will take place following the reception in the Amherst Cemetery. Donations can be made in Marylyn’s memory to the Revival Centre Church Building Fund.
