Obituary of John William Saris
SARIS, John William
Passed away peacefully on September 5, 2019, surrounded by his family at Hospice Peterborough, in his 84th year. The world has lost a highly organized, detail-oriented gentleman who loved to dance, dress up for Halloween and enjoy rye and ginger. John started his career at the Royal Bank and ended it as the Budget Controller for Heinz Canada. Although he officially retired in the nineties, he never fully stopped working as he continued to run a small tax business and advocate for seniors’ rights and other causes that he was passionate about. He was instrumental in forming the Mississauga chapter of the Canadian Diabetic Association, keeping the emergency room at Leamington Hospital open and in stopping the wind turbines from being put in Lake Erie.
Loving Husband to the late Ann Saris nee McNaughtan (predeceased 2000). He is survived by his daughter Michele (Joe Cavanagh); Son Richard; and Grandchildren Thomas, Robyn (Briam), Mark, Tyler, Jason, and Ryan. He is survived by his brothers Willy and Martin, and his brothers-in-law Adam, and David, and sister-in-law Mary.
The family will be having a private Celebration of Life. There are not enough words to express how grateful we are for all of the support that we received from Hospice Peterborough for their caring and compassionate support of John and his family. In memory of John, donations can be made to Hospice Peterborough or your local Canadian Legion.
