RIDER, James (Jim) William
Passed away on Thursday, September 26th, 2019, age 87, at Guelph General Hospital surrounded by his family. Loving husband of 66 years to Josephine Rider (Beliski). Devoted father to Debra Bartley, Cathy Baxter (Ed), Sherry Setchell, Theresa Rider and Bill Rider (Glenna). Cherished grandfather to Lia, Candiss, Matthew, Justin, Adam, Caitlin and Kelly. Caring great-grandfather to Aiden, Alexis, Jacob, Marek, Danielle and Liam. Dearest brother to Margaret Groselle (Frank) and brother-in-law to Marilyn Rider. Predeceased by his parents William & Agnes Rider, his sister and brother-in-law Mildred Rider & Dr. Stanley Iwan and his brother Joseph Rider.
Jim touched many lives. He was the founder of Ariss Fencing and very active for many years with the Maryhill Knights of Columbus. Jim loved fishing, the Blue Jays, watching golf (but not playing), travelling, crossword puzzles and his dogs, especially Chaser and Ralph. His greatest joy was enjoying the wildlife from his chair in the family room.
Jim’s family will receive relatives and friends from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Sunday, September 29th, 2019 at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin Street N, Guelph. A funeral mass will be held at St. Boniface R.C. Church in Maryhill at 10:00 am on Monday, September 30th, 2019. Internment to follow at a later date.
