Jacqueline Ogg Nee Poley avis de deces

It is with much love that we mourn the peaceful passing of Jacqueline Ogg of Edmonton on Sunday, September 15, 2019, at the age of 101 years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Tony; daughter, Sherry; granddaughters: Larissa and Elise; daughter-in law, Vicky; parents, Jim and Anita and brothers: Wayne and Steven. She will also be dearly missed by close friends, former students, and former colleagues.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 20 years, Dick; son, Andy; sister, Millie; and her parents, Cy and Margo.
Jacqueline (Jacquie) was born in Boulder, CO, USA, where she spent her childhood, and later her family moved to Pasadena, CA. She married in 1942, and in 1956 the family moved to Switzerland, returned to Colorado in 1963, and then permanently moved to Edmonton in 1968.
She received a BA (with Great Distinction) and MA in Drama and Dance from Stanford University. Her passion was modern dance and choreography, and she further trained with Martha Graham and her contemporaries. She also had a keen interest in historical dance and manners for period plays. She taught dance, drama and movement coaching wherever she lived, including the Banff Centre and the University of Alberta. She helped found and direct children’s theatre dance groups as well as a professional dance company, the Alberta Contemporary Dance Theatre. She performed and choreographed nationally and internationally. In recognition of her contributions to culture she received City of Edmonton and Alberta Achievement Awards and was inducted into the International Burckardt Academy of Rome, Italy, in 1983. After retirement from the University of Alberta in 1982, Jacquie focused on the Feldenkrais method of neuromuscular training, including Awareness Through Movement and Functional Integration. She became a certified practitioner, went on to receive advanced training, developed the Movement Arts Centre in Edmonton, and with her daughter Sherry developed Micromoves. In addition to dance and drama, Jacquie wrote clever verse, drew artistically, gardened, enjoyed figure skating, skiing and horseback riding, and was a caring owner of many pets. She was always devoted to, and supportive of, her children and husband. She had a full life, which was celebrated at her 100th birthday where she was surrounded by family, friends, students and colleagues.
Mass intentions for her soul will be offered at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, 12810 111 Ave NW, Edmonton, on Sunday, September 22, at 11:00 AM. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made in Jacqueline’s name to the Feldenkrais Guild of North America.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to her close friends; the staff, residents and caregivers at the St. Andrew’s Centre; and the staff at Sturgeon Community Hospital, St. Albert. Your caring and support of Jacquie will always be remembered.
