Peacefully at Strathroy Middle General Hospital on Sunday, September 8, 2019 of Ilderton, at the age of 81. Cherished and best friend of Myrtle (Smith) Hastings for 62 years. Loving father of Heather and Scott Furtney of Port Dover, Rick Hastings of Ilderton, and Becky Hastings and Bruce McCutcheon of Owen Sound. Adored grandpa of Lauren and Corey, Joel and Melissa, Matthew and Donna, Leah and Dan, Josh and Theresa, Barrett, and Brodie and Brittany. Loved great-grandpa of 13. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Robert and Bonnie Hastings, Betty Churchill, John and Sandy Hastings, Bonnie and Verne Westover, Honey Hastings, Margaret and Bill Henderson, Bruce and Janet Smith, Carol and Tony Sammut, Eileen and Bob McCoy, Ralph and Marilyn Smith, and Greg Smith. Jim will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Cy and Isabel (Davidson) Hastings, brother Gordon Hastings, and mother and father-in-law Marion and James Smith.
A celebration of life will be held at the Ilderton Community Centre, 13168 Ilderton Road, Ilderton on Sunday, September 15th from 2 – 5 PM. Cremation has taken place.
