It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Mary Nidia “Edna” Chiasson which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, September 24th, 2019. Born 1941, in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Yvonne (Hebert) Daigle. Edna worked for St. Joseph’s Housekeeping and McCready Pickle Factory. She enjoyed knitting, crafts and bowling. She loved hockey, especially the Montreal Canadiens, travelling to Shippagan, going for walks, playing bingo, and spending time with her family.
Edna is survived by her children Margaret Coulton (Tony) of Lepreau, Wayne Chiasson (Mary) of Saint John, Shirley James (Kevin) of Saint John, Michael Chiasson (Tammy) of Saint John; siblings Leonard Daigle of Ontario, Theresa Evans (Ronnie) of Saint John, Jeanette Colpitts (Sam) of Fredericton, Jim Daigle of Saint John, Shirley Doiron (Gerald “Ti-Joe”) of Saint John; brother-in-law Jackie Aspen of Saint John; grandchildren Dan, Jessica, Melissa, James, Ryan, Kaitlyn & Katie; great grandchildren Tessa, Bryce, Jakob, Emily & Scarlett; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents, Edna was predeceased by her husband Aurele, sister Zelia, grandson Nathan and special friend Doug.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Thursday, September 26th from 2 to 8 p.m. A Memorial Service will take place from the Fundy Funeral Home chapel on Friday, September 27th at 10 a.m. followed by an interment at Fernhill Cemetery. Donations in memory of Edna may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
