E. Mae’s Obituary
ALMA – E. Mae Worthen, precious wife and mother, 78, Alma, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, September 11, 2019 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Pictou Landing, she was a daughter of the late John Dan and Annie Alice (Graham) Fraser, the youngest of eleven children. In earlier years, Mae was employed as a telephone operator with the former Maritime Tel and Tel. She was co-owner of Alma Homes and Campers, where she worked alongside her husband, Garnet for many years. Mae was a member of Greenhill-Alma United Church. She loved spending time with her family, especially travelling to Florida, socializing, going for drives and sharing her famous homemade chocolate chip cookies. Mae was “mom” to all she loved. Her kind heart, caring nature and selflessness, putting others first, will always be remembered. Mae was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.
Surviving are her one true love of 58 years, husband, Garnet; daughter, Lori Davis (Aurbrey Fleet), Chester; sons, Tim, Stellarton; Todd (Alta), New Glasgow; Terry (Jennifer), Dartmouth; grandchildren, Deven (Lee), Travis (Micahla), Janelle (Chad), Josh (Emily) and Brandon; great grandchildren, Violet and Colton; sister, Mary Mazur, Thunder Bay, Ont.; brothers, Joe Fraser, Pictou Landing; Leslie Fraser, Thunder Bay, Ont.; many nieces and nephews. Mae will be missed by closest friends and neighbours, Peter and Mary Hare and, John and Beverley MacKinnon.
Mae always stated she would rather a “hello” than a “goodbye” and in honour of her wishes, her family has, and continues to celebrate her life privately.
Mae’s family wish to thank the doctors, nurses, staff and caregivers of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow for the care received and a special thank you to Mae’s primary caregiver, Marsha Thompson, for the exceptional care and compassion she provided.
