Obituary of Carl Eugene Phinney
Phinney, Carl Eugene – 86, of Upper Granville passed away in the early morning hours of September 21, 2019, in the Annapolis Community Health Centre. Born February 25, 1933, in Upper Granville, Carl was the son of the late Joseph and Leta (Poole) Phinney.
Carl was one of a kind, hardworking, willing to help anyone, never-sit-still-for-too long-kind of man. He loved to work and experience all he could over his many years; driving Taxi, Ed’s Service Station and NBC Studios Burbank (California), Everett & Smiths Garage, Acadian Distilleries, driving Irving Oil truck for John Ward, owned and operated Continental Kitchen, helping Eddie Taylor in construction, and Wards farm. When Carl wasn’t busy working he was helping out in his community which he loved greatly. He was a former member of the Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, and Willian Black United Church. Carl loved telling stories and always had many to tell. And for those of you who knew Carl, you knew that 4pm was his special time of day.
Carl is survived by his wife, Linda (Morrison); children, Verney (Luna) of Florida, Julie (Cecil) Hannam of West Dalhousie, Daniel (Cathy) of Bridgetown, Elizabeth (Darren) of Charlie Lake, BC; grandchildren, Rick Hannam (Melanie), Erin (Marc) Emond, Ashley (Jared) Phinney, Kally Phinney; great grandchildren, Dylan Hannam, Vincent and Thomas Emond, Daynah Hall, Callum White; sisters, Barb (Andy) Cress, Sandra (Colin) Laing; brother, Bob (Lynn) and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by, sisters, Gertrude, Phyllis, Evelyn, Marion, and Joan.
Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held 6-8pm Tuesday with a funeral service being held 2pm Wednesday September 25, 2019 both from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown, with Rev. Don MacPherson officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home. Private family burial will take place in the Riverside Cemetery, Bridgetown. Family flowers only. Donations in Carl’s memory may be sent to the Lodge that Gives or a Charity of One’s Choice. In lieu of a donation, pay it forward with an act of kindness in your community.
