Obituary of Bill McVean
McVean, James William”Bill” After a long hard fought battle, we are sad to announce that Bill passed away on September 23, 2019 at the Georgetown Hospital.
He will be greatly missed by his life partner of 28 years, Carol Dobson. He truly was the wind beneath my wings.
Bill loved and was loved by the children in his life. David(Mary-Anne) McVean, Linda Moore and Tom(Janice Weymer) McVean. Along with Carol’s children Terry McLean, Sharon Colwell and Teddi-Lee(Eric) Cathcart. His wisdom, sense of humor and his love of all sports was something he enjoyed sharing with them. Bill could always be found with a tool kit in his hand to help any of them with their latest project and his presence in their lives will be very deeply missed.
Bill is survived by his brothers Stuart(Laurel), Alec(Margaret) and Keith(Shirley). He is predeceased by his brother Bruce, sister Betty(Gord) Near, nephew David Near and his grandson Patrick Moore. Together we shared in the laughter, the love and the fun of 15 grandchildren.
We are greatful for all the help provided by Cancer Assistant Services of Halton Hills along with the palliative care team from Acclaim Health. We would like to say thank you and show our appreciation for the support and care from our friends at Hillsview Active Living Centre, the many doctors and nurses who provided care for Bill especially Dr. Lim and Dr. Zeni who went above and beyond. A special thank you to Bill’s home care nurse Jericho who was a blessing, and the staff at Georgetown Hospital for their compassionate care and making Bill feel very comfortable.
Cremation has taken place. In respects to Bill’s wishes there will be no visitation or service.
Rest easy my love. There are no sand traps in heaven
