Manning, Barbara Yvonne (Staley)
1927-2019
Barbara Yvonne (Staley) Manning of Burlington, Ontario, passed away peacefully on Wolfe Island on September 17, 2019.
Born August 21, 1927 in Toronto, she was the daughter of Dr. Austin Archibald and Loretto Mary (Lynch) Staley. She graduated from University of Toronto in 1950 as an Occupational Therapist. She fell in love and married Harvey Lewis Manning of Toronto on October 11, 1952 and they had five children together before his sudden death in December 1963.
Barbara worked more than 25 years for WSIB at the Downsview Rehab Centre and raised her family on Riverhead Drive in Rexdale.
She was pre-deceased by her parents and husband, and sister Mary and brother Austin.
She leaves behind her children Scott of Ottawa, David of Toronto, Laura (Joseph Malfara) of Waterdown, John of Vancouver, BC, and Marilou (Gerald Boulet) of Dartmouth, NS, and her grandchildren Sarah and James (Lauren Campbell) Manning, Alexandra, Maximillian, and Kimberly Manning, Matthew, Michael and Nicholas Tourangeau, Christopher Manning, and Adrien and Solenne Boulet, and many more cousins, nieces and nephews.
There will be a funeral mass held at Sacred Heart of Mary Church on Friday September 20, 2019 at 2pm with a visitation from 1:15-1:50pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) would be kindly appreciated.
Forever a loving and amazing Mom and Nana, we will always be in awe of your accomplishments and will always cherish you in our hearts! Rest in peace.
