Anne Laroche

Anne’s Obituary
Anne Laroche of Preeceville and formerly of Norquay, SK and Prince Rupert, BC, passed away at the Preeceville & District Health Centre – Long Term Care on September 16, 2019, at the age of 93 years.
Anne was born on September 20, 1925, to Walter and Mary (Lukianik) Kaminsky in a small village in Western Ukraine. The family emigrated to Canada in late Spring of 1925.
Anne attended Frame Lake School and received her grade seven education before family obligations forced her to sacrifice her schooling to help on the farm with the many requirements of farming operations.
In the 1940’s, as a young girl, Anne moved to Toronto, ON, with her friend, Lena Byneshowsky. They set off in search of employment as job opportunities were scarce in Saskatchewan at that time. While in Toronto, Anne married George Salyn who was also employed at Christies Bakery. They were blessed with their first child, Bernie, in 1948 and shortly after moved to a farm they purchased north of Stenen, SK. They then welcomed two more children into the family, David in 1950 and Beverly in 1954. Unfortunately, George passed away in 1957. Anne continued to live on the farm with the children for a couple years until life pressures dictated a move to Stenen for closer school access. After a few years in Stenen, Anne moved the family to Prince Rupert, BC, where her sister, Mary and husband, John resided.
In 1971, Anne married George Laroche. Over the years, Anne continued to live in various locations including Fort Mac, Duncan, BC, and then back to Prince Rupert. In September 2018, she moved back to Saskatchewan and eventually became a resident of the Preeceville & District Long Term Care Unit, where she continued to reside until her passing of September 16, 2019.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace and her memory be eternal.
Anne was predeceased by her husbands, George Salyn and George Laroche; her parents, Walter and Mary Kaminsky; brothers, Metro and Ed Kaminsky; sisters: Mary Rudy, Emily Rudy and Marge Pawliw; and her brothers-in-law, John Rudy, Marvin Rudy, John Kurulak and Ernie Pawliw.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Bernie (Karen) Salyn, David (Rosewitha) Salyn and Beverly (Trevor) Rothwell; treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Ella and her sisters-in-law, Mary Kaminsky and Mabel Kaminsky; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
In Anne’s honour, a Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 23, 2019, from the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora, SK, with Rev. Fr. Petro Tsenov officiating. Interment will follow in the Canora Cemetery.
