The family of Archibald (Archie) Wilson McCulloch, age 78, is saddened to announce his passing on Tuesday September 3, 2019 surrounded by family. He was born on October 31, 1940 in Troon, Scotland to the late Archibald and Mary (McEwan) McCulloch. He grew up in Troon before completing his PhD in Chemistry at the University of Glasgow and emigrating to Canada in 1968. There he met his wife Elaine, whom he married in 1971 and he enjoyed a long career at the National Research Council. In his lengthy retirement, he enjoyed giving of his time to many charitable groups. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Elaine (Walker) and his two sons John (Hugh) and Scott (Melanie); grandchildren Dawson, Macie and Riley as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers John (Sheena) and Ewan (Josephine). Archie had a passion for photography and the outdoors and greatly enjoyed his time at Eight Island Lake. He was a patient, loving, gentle and caring man who was loved dearly by his family and leaves a legacy of kindness and compassion. He loved visiting his grandchildren in the valley and the many family pets he had throughout his life. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Archie’s life will take place at a later date, details to be announced. Many thanks to the doctors and nurses who cared for him so compassionately over the past few weeks, especially in palliative care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
