Ann Winifred Halloran
February 21, 1936 – August 31, 2019

February 21 1936 – August 31 2019 (83 years)
On the morning of Saturday August 31st, 2019 at her home in Dartmouth NS with family by her side, Ann went peacefully into the arms of her parents and she will no doubt reconnect with the countless souls that she touched throughout her journey. Survived by her husband of 60 years Ronan, children; Catherin (Doug), Michael (Joanne), Thomas (Marni) and Mark (Karri), grandchildren; Abigail, Gabrielle, Matthew, Samantha, Owen, William, Jackson, Ronan, Rhys and step grandchildren Kaitlyn, Jocelyn and Matthew.
Ann was born in Wales and during WWII moved with her parents to Canada, where they settled in Smith Falls. They later moved to Ottawa where she spent most of her teen years. She then moved to Toronto where she worked with Bell Canada. She met Ronan during that time, and together they worked to build the foundation for our family. During their 60-year marriage they moved between Toronto and Ottawa and then settled in Montreal in 1973. They remained there until moving East once all of their children had set out on their own course. Ann was always the soft place to land. She would lend her ear to those that needed a listen, and with a cup of tea, a nod, and a piece of wisdom, one would leave much better for it.
As a mother, she was a safe harbour, even when her warnings of rough waters ahead were disregarded. She never said, “I told you so” (almost never), and was always there to help her children get back on the right course. Although Ann had no brothers or sisters, many of the folks reading this obituary would beg to differ. You see, she had a way about her; she was an open book, a rarity if you will. Her genuine concern for others created friendships that would be better described as family. She lit up every room, she was witty, she was wonderful and she was eccentric. She was a fantastic wife, mother, granny and friend. She was deeply loved and she will be missed immensely.
