Obituary for Will Vink Sr.
Willie Joseph Vink Sr. passed away peacefully at the CKHA-Sydenham Campus on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at the age of 92. Will is the son of the late Peter Alphons & Anne Marie (van der Veeken) Vink. Born in 1927, he met and married the love of his life Anna Maria Crombeen in 1951. Anna predeceased Will in 2002 after raising 6 children together: Francis, Cynthia, Robert (Linda Seys), Bonnie Jefford (Robert), William Jr. (Michelle Schikker) and Anne-Marie Vink Benoit (Yvan), falling 2 short of his desired baseball team. Will never lost his zest for life and always took great pride in the accomplishments of his grandchildren: Kerry, Erik, Keir, Lindsay, Brian, Steven, Joseph, Kate, Joel, Shae-Lyn, Corey, Chasen, Josh, Logan, Thomas and Emma, and his 12 great grandchildren, and he had great hopes for the 2 great great grandchildren on the way. He was especially grateful for the company of his travel companion and friend, Georgette Apers. He was predeceased by his brothers Rene and Frank and survived by his sister-in-law Annie Vink. Will lived a rich, full life, moving to the farm in 1939, and he never left. He lived according to his 4 pillars of life: family, faith, friends and farming. He loved the outdoors, dancing and travelling, and he helped to build Holy Family Church where he was a Eucharistic minister for over 40 years. He was also a Third Degree member of Council 2102 of the Knights of Columbus. The family will receive relatives and friends at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Thursday, August 29. The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Our Lady Help of Christians Church on Friday, August 30 at 1:30 PM. Interment to follow in Riverview Cemetery. If desired, remembrances to the Wallaceburg Salvation Army Food Bank or the St. Vincent de Paul Society may be left at the funeral home 519.627.3231.
