Obituary for
Walter John Dey
Born November 3, 1924 in Dunham, QC. Died August 30, 2019. Beloved husband of Cora Dey (Shelp). Brother to George, Jim, Grant, and Gladys (all deceased). Father to Judy (Ross Graham), Susan (Dan Wallace) and Robin. Grandfather to six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Walter lived as a young adult in Russell, ON, but was a resident of Elmvale Acres, Ottawa ,ON, for 65 years, with his last four years at the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre. He was a veteran of WWII, and as a dedicated Mason (Ashlar Lodge 564) was the recipient of the William Mercer Wilson Medal in 2004. Walter was a Shell Canada retiree and founding member of Emmanuel United Church.
A Memorial Service will take place at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road (at Aviation Parkway), Ottawa, on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada or to the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre would be greatly appreciated by the family.
