It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Jean Ash (nee Clouter) announces her peaceful passing after a courageous fight with IPF, on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at the age of 73.
Shirley is lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years, Douglas, his children, Geoff (Kathy), Greg (Pam), and Stephen (Angela) Ash, her grandchildren, Tallula, Olivia, Finn and Imogen, sister Juanita, brother Austin (Madonna), sister Theresa and brother Terry (Denise), and extended family in Newfoundland, Ontario, British Columbia and the United States. Shirley was predeceased by her father, Clayton (1974), mother Minnie (2014), and sister Kathleen (2018).
Born in Clarenville, Newfoundland to a close and wonderfully raucous family, she and Doug packed up the boys and moved to Ontario in the early 80’s, first in Kincardine and Bowmanville, finally settling down in her private little piece of heaven outside Fenelon Falls. Her loves were her family, first, foremost and forever; spending time in her garden, trips home to Newfoundland, and a good laugh.
Shirley passed away at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay and will be quietly cremated as per her wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name to the Lung Association.
