Quietly in the night at the Juravinski Health Centre in Hamilton on August 20, 2019 in her 89th year. Known as Aileen to many and Mom to her five children, Gram and Nana to her 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She is survived by her children Mary Ann Goheen of Gravenhurst, Fred Rowell of Halifax, Kathy Greening (Frank), and Lorna Rowell (Leo Gluchowski) of Hamilton and Lillian Joan Rowell of Scottsdale, Arizona. Survived by grandchildren Tim Greening, Isaac Gluchowski-Rowell, Emily Rowell (Patrick Rogers) and Anna Rowell, and great grandchildren Jack, Audrey and Annie Rogers all of Halifax. Aileen will be missed by cousin Allison Rowell of Sarnia, Ont., and her many friends. During her lifetime she worked for Bell Telephone, assisted in the operation of Arthur Rowell Ltd., and was employed as the Volunteer Coordinator for Hamilton Civic Hospitals –Henderson for over 24 years.
Aileen was predeceased by her husband Arthur Rowell, parents William and Kathleen McNamara, her siblings Patrick, William and Margaret Real, and son-in-law John Goheen.
At her request there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place and her ashes will rest with her parents in Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery. We would like to thank Susan Sciascetti for her friendship, comfort and care of our mother, especially during the past few weeks of her life and Judy Ireland for her support. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinson’s Society or charity of choice would be appreciated.
