Obituary for Ross Kenneth Brown
With heavy hearts we announce the sudden and untimely passing of Ross Kenneth Brown on August 18, 2019.
Ross, the son of Ross and Helen Brown, was born in the back of an army truck on the way to the hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia on February 24, 1944. Ross was the eldest of thirteen siblings and grew up in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia until he moved to Toronto where he met the love of his life, Dianne Kizlyk.
Ross and Dianne’s romance took them to Saskatchewan, where they married and then to Calgary, where they had their three beautiful daughters, Donalie, Debbie and Darla. Ross worked in the steel industry in Calgary until he was transferred to Cranbrook in 1980.
After retiring from his career in steel, Ross drove taxi for many years in the community of Cranbrook. His gift of conversation and keen interest in everyone he met, made him a preferred driver for many.
Ross enjoyed fishing, camping, collector cars, the casino, garage sales, enjoyed drinking coffee and playing crib with friends at Dairy Queen. Ross recently lost 60 pounds on the keto diet trying to maintain his health. He was very proud to have beaten four different bouts with cancer over the past 20 years. Ross and Dianne travelled 1000’s of kilometers to stay in touch with family and friends over the years. Ross’s heart was broken when his love, Dianne, passed In January 2018. Ross was very proud of being married to Dianne for 50 years as well as his accomplished daughters and their families.
Ross was predeceased by his wife Dianne (Kizlyk), and survived by daughters Donalie (Pat), Debbie (Mike), Darla (Joe) and his nine grandchildren, Ashlyn, Brodyn, Lukas, Joshua, Keaton, Peyton, Olivia, Jillian and Alicia as well as numerous extended family.
