Obituary of Renate Alwine Minna Poytress
POYTRESS, Renate (nee Bossow) – Passed away peacefully, at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, on Monday, August 5, 2019, with her loving daughter Ann and granddaughter Mandy, holding her hands. Renate of Omemee, at 81 years of age. Beloved wife of the late Stanley Poytress for 59 years. Dear mother of Ann (Carl Vanzandwyk) of Peterborough and Sandra (Mark McCall) of Omemee. Loving Omi of Mandy (Rob Zavitz), Jeffrey McArthur (Jess Carroll), Luke Morgan, Sam Morgan and great Omi of Kora and Conor Zavitz. Sister of Uschi and Klaus, and dear friend of Inge & Paul, and Annemie & Jurgen. Renate will be remembered fondly by Chuck & Joan Poytress and Gene and Arlene Poytress, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Renate began her life’s new journey with a young Canadian soldier many years ago. Being away from her homeland and family, although very difficult, was done with grace and humility. Her love of the English language allowed her to master it to perfection and her tremendous sense of humour was a saving grace when we lovingly poked fun at the odd mistake. Wildflowers, birds and butterflies lived wherever Mom did. A good recipe, her family and helping strangers were at the top of “her list”. And she had many lists!
In honour, of this incredible woman, raise your tequila shot…. Prost! And as the wise woman always said “pour me another shot ….“

Cremation has taken place, and a private celebration of life will be held.
