Mrs. Norma Baisi passed away on Friday, August 23, 2019 at the age of 85 years. Norma was born in a small town in northern Tuscunay called Vagli Sotto, Italy on March 27, 1934 and immigrated to Canada in 1959 along with her first child Rita, who was 1 year old at the time. After a short period in British Columbia, Norma along with her husband and her daughter moved to Yellowknife, North West Territories, where a number of other people from Norma’s home town moved. Yellowknife provided everything for the Baisi family. Soon after Frank started his thirty three year career as a miner at Giant Mine and the Baisi family grew to five members. Norma was a traditional stay at home mother, always in the kitchen cooking, looking after her family and usually a number of other Italian members of the community. Life was good in Yellowknife, except for the cold winters. Norma has lived her life always putting her family first. Over the years, Norma has lost a number of close family members. We know that she is now with all of those members who passed before her in their loving embrace. Those of us that are left, look forward to feeling her warm embrace again.
