Marvin Starko
On August 25, 2019 Marvin passed away suddenly at the age of 89 in his home.
He will be remembered by his loving wife, Adele; and his children, Grant (Val), Kenton (Caroline) and Leanne (Maurice) Brunelle; also his grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Christina, Julia, Justin, Daniel, Oliver and Cailin. He is survived by his sisters, Susan (Russ Laba), Vivian (James Redmond), Patti (Boris Litwin) and Gina Anderson. Marvin was predeceased by his eldest grandson, Shaughn; and his parents, John L. and Ann Starko. Marvin graduated from medical school in 1957. After completing a specialty in Otorhinolaryngology (Ear, Nose and Throat), he was awarded a fellowship in 1965. He was a devoted physician and retired in 1996. His passion to study and read continued well into his retirement. He had fond memories of his childhood on the farm where he was raised.
Divine Liturgy Friday, August 30 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 10825 – 97 Street, Edmonton with interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
In honour of Marvin’s memory, donations may be made to the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute, Room 2A9.006, 8440 – 112 Street, Edmonton, AB T6G 2B7.
