Obituary of Marjorie Anne Laevens
LAEVENS, Marjorie (nee Burm)
Marjorie Anne (nee Burm) Laevens, a resident of Chatham, passed away peacefully at her home on August 24, 2019 in her 75th year.
Daughter of the late Louis and Emily (nee Van Damme) Burm.
Married on September 23, 1967, she was the beloved wife for 51 years of Henry Laevens.
Loving mother of Maureen (Rob) McKerrall, Marcia (Marty) Vermey, Anne Marie (Brian) Rogers and Theresa (Mike) Van Damme.
Sadly missed by her grandchildren: Lauren, Ryan and William McKerrall; Matthew, Andrew and Gregory Vermey; Jessica, Meghan and Erica Rogers; and Rudy, Charlie and Angel Emily (2011) Van Damme.
Sister and sister-in-law of the late Joseph and Paula Burm, the late Constant and Dianne Burm, Jean and George Van Damme, Joan and Paul Bogaert, Doreen and John Bogaart, Gerard and Yvonne Laevens, Marguerite and the late Alfred Dubeau, and Maurice and Carol Laevens.
Marjorie cherished her family, friends, faith, farm life, and furry companions. She was extremely thoughtful in the way she lived her life, and always made time to help her family and friends. She will be remembered for her delicious butter tarts and cookies. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League of Blessed Sacrament Parish, and canvassed many years for the Canadian Cancer Society and the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Allison Morand, to the volunteer firefighters of Station #7, the EMS staff, and the police for their assistance given to Marjorie and her family through this difficult time.
Family and friends to be received on Wednesday, August 28th, 2019 at McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham from 2:00 – 5:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Vigil Prayers at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass to take place at 11:00 am on Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 145 Victoria Ave, Chatham. Burial to take place in Riverview Cemetery, Wallaceburg.
In memory of Marjorie, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Pet and Wildlife Rescue, or charity of choice.
