It is with great sadness that the family of Lucy Gwendlyn Creaser, 91, of the Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay and formerly of Lunenburg, announces her passing on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.
Born in Grimm’s Settlement, N.S, Lucy was the daughter of the late Daniel and Cora Maude (Crouse) Grimm.
She attended the Bridgewater Commercial School and graduated with a Stenographic Certificate and went to Halifax, and was hired by General Trust and Executor Corporation at the age of 16 and worked there from 1943 until 1947.
Over the years Lucy was a faithful member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Rose Bay, where she was a member of the Ladies’ Aid of the church. She was actively involved in her earlier years in her community as a volunteer with the Canadian Red Cross and the Boy Scouts, Riverport.
Lucy loved spending time at her summer camp on Caribou Lake which she and her late husband, Ross bought in 1955. The camp was always a welcoming place to entertain family and friends. Many a wonderful story was told at the camp and her best times were spent there with her beloved children and grandchildren.
Lucy is survived by her daughter, Helen (John) Dolimount, Lunenburg; son, Raymond, Lower Sackville; sister, Kathleen O’Neil, Halifax; six grandchildren, Daniel (Ashley), Sam (Katherine), James, Isaac, Kali, Emily, great- granddaughter, Ellie and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ross, brothers, Wallace, Lonnie and Daniel, sisters, Hilda, Katie, Helen, Peggy, Mary and Gladys.
A Graveside Committal Service to celebrate Lucy’s life will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m., at Shepherd’s Hill Cemetery, Riverport.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church Church, Rose Bay, the Mahone Nursing Home or to the South Shore Regional Hospital, through the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the doctors and nurses and staff at the Mahone Bay Nursing Home and the South Shore Regional Hospital, Floor 3B for their excellent care and compassion shown to our beloved “Mimi”.
