Obituary of John Gordon Steven
It is with heavy hearts the family of John Gordon Steven of Quispamsis, loving husband of Cheryl (Watling) Steven, announce his passing on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at his home, surrounded by family. Born on August 16, 1946 in Campbellton, NB, he was the son of Alta (Gordon) Steven and the late L. J. C. (Jack) Steven.
In addition to his wife and mother, John will be greatly missed by his daughters, Susan Steven-Power (Neil) and Jill Steven; and granddaughters, Ava and Keira.
John worked at NBTel for 29 years as a Civil Engineer. He spent his retirement years doing some travelling, “philosophizing” with friends and creating a backyard oasis. He loved hunting and fishing and especially enjoyed spending time at his camp on South Lake in the Miramichi area. He had a passion for nature, which he instilled in his daughters and granddaughters. John was a kind and compassionate man who always put his family first. We are all forever grateful for the wonderful years we shared together.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119) where visitation will take place on Thursday, August 15, 2019 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. There will be no funeral service. For those who wish, remembrances in memory of John may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
