Helen MacLeod
1929-2019
Helen Jean MacLeod, 89, formerly of Herbert St. and Birch
St., New Glasgow, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 in Shiretown
Nursing Home, Pictou. Born in Cardigan North, PEI, she was a daughter
of Henry and Lottie Hayter. Helen worked in the Moirs
Chocolate Factory in Halifax prior to her marriage to
Jim. Helen belonged to the First Presbyterian
Church and was a lifelong member of the Catherine Mair
Society. She taught Sunday school for many years.
Helen enjoyed travelling, and camping. Helen was predeceased by loving
husband, James G. MacLeod; parents, Henry and Lottie; brothers,
Charles (Lillian), Guy, Sheldon; sisters, Ilene, Myrtle (Robert)
Matheson, Marie Granlund (Frank). Helen was survived by a son, Kevin
(Margaret); grandchildren, Christopher (Nicole), Allison and Lindsay;
great-granddaughter, Sage; sister, Cline (Doug) Marshall; special
niece, Judy Davidson; sisters-in-law, Anne and Phyllis; and many
nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at R.H. Porter Funeral
Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow on Saturday, Aug.17, from 2-4 and
7-9 pm. Helen’s memorial service will be held at 2 pm, Monday, Aug. 19
at First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow, with Rev. Andrew MacDonald
officiating. Interment will be at St. Andrew’s
Cemetery, Gairloch. Donations in her memory may be made to First
Presbyterian Church or St. Andrew’s Cemetery,
Gairloch.
