Obituary of ANTHONY KASMIR MARUDA
ANTHONY KASMIR MARUDA
It is with great sadness that we announce the accidental death of Tony Maruda on Sunday, August 18, 2019.
Our precious Tony has climbed the stairway to heaven, to join his parents, Antoni and Agnieszka Maruda (Topor), and his sister Carolyn Popp. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Christine (Paul), Christopher, Antonita (Jerry) and Michele, along with several nephews and nieces, and long-time special friend Louise.
Tony was born of Polish immigrants in Narol, MB where his parents and other members of his extended family settled into a livelihood of market gardening, in hope of a better life in the new world. Tony was proud to maintain the family tradition his entire life. Man of profound faith, he was a devoted parishioner of Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church, boasting of his membership as a founding member of the Narol Knights of Columbus, as attested by a plaque in the church foyer.
Tony’s kindness and devotion to his family were remarkable. His soft voice and gentle hand were a delight to his grandchildren. Tony was often heard boasting of the academic, musical, artistic and sports achievements of his prodigy. Aimee, Emma, Jayne, Simon, Lynne, Jada, Jaxon and Lyla were the apple of his bright, blue eyes.
Tony was an avid, passionate reader. History was of special interest to him. Rarely was a conversation not livened with a historic or geographic tidbit that Tony had absorbed in his hours of daily reading. Having spent 37 years holding various positions at CP Rail, he had a special interest in the railroad industry in its various forms throughout the world. Oh, the stories he could tell!
Goodbye precious father, grandfather and friend. Dearest Tony, the memory of your lovely, coy smile will help console us and appease our tears of loneliness. Rest peacefully in the Saviour’s care until we come to join you there.
Funeral Mass will take place at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church, 5819 Henderson Hwy., at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 26. Recital of the Rosary at 10:00 a.m.
Sunday August 18 2019
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of ANTHONY KASMIR
