Alexander Rankin

It is with great sadness that the family of Alexander Dobbie Rankin announce his passing on August 28th, 2019, at the Kirkland and District Hospital.
Alex was born February 20, 1925 in Scotland to Elizabeth and Hugh Rankin. In June of 1929 his family immigrated to Canada settling in London Ontario, residing in North Bay 1957 to 1966, and moving to Kirkland Lake in 1966 where he has resided ever since.
He leaves behind his wife of 62 wonderful years, Diane (Danny) (Fitzpatrick) Rankin.
Predeceased by his sister Betty and brothers John, Tom and Hugh, he is survived by son Alexander (Sandy) Rankin and wife Martha of Kingston, Ontario, daughter Susan Rankin and husband Mike Stevanovich of Kirkland Lake, his precious grandchildren Bonnie (Dr. Alan Chiem), Allie (Dustin Souriol) and Chase (Alyssa Doxsee), and his great grandchildren Naomi and Gabriel.
A WWII Navy veteran and lifelong employee of Brewers Retail, he enjoyed spending his retirement years playing cards with friends at the Legion, coffee at Tim’s with the “boys”, volunteering at the hospital and teaching life’s lessons to his grandchildren.
