Ronald Healey July 27th 2019 avis de deces

It is with profound sadness the family of Ronald Healey announce his untimely passing in his home on July 27, 2019. He was born to George and Phyllis Healey on Dec 5, 1936 at the Eston Union Hospital. He was predeceased by George, Phyllis and brother Raymond, his mother in law Alice Lepine, numerous brothers and sisters in law, nieces and a nephew. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Eugenie (Jean) Healey, son Bart (Joanne) of Burnaby, B.C., daughter Maureen (Greg) Gulka and grandsons Colby and Carter all of Saskatoon, Sask. Also brother in law Carl (Helen) Lepine and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ron grew up in Eston and left at the age of seventeen for Trail, B.C. where he found work at Ferraro’s. In 1960 he had the opportunity to join Celgar as an electrical apprentice. In 1963 his life took a turn with the passing of his father and in the spring of 1964 Ron and Jean returned to Eston to take over the family farm. While there he attained his journeyman Industrial Electrical certificate. They spent the next 53 years farming and raising their family. Once the children left home, Ron and Jean wintered in Trail for 29 years. Many people would often ask Ron if he was confused with the direction of West to South and his response was “the wife loves to curl and if Mama is happy everyone is happy”. Having said that Ron was also an avid curler, golfer, and was an active member in the Masonic lodge and Lions club. He was also a devout member of the Catholic Church and on Sept 14, 2014 he was baptized and confirmed. From 1967-2017 Ron and Jean visited many different hot destinations with their close friends. In 2016 Ron gave Jean two weeks notice that they were moving permanently to Trail and with the assistance of Maureen, Greg and grandsons they sold the home quarter and rented the rest of the land to their neighbor’s son and the new chapter began. Upon their arrival to Trail they purchased a duplex where they enjoyed almost three years. He made friends easily and had lifetime bonds with people in both Eston and Trail. He loved nothing more than having his cup of coffee, a good puzzle, sunshine and sitting on his deck addressing all the dog walkers and knowing all their names, his favorites Rider and Corkie. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the first responders, and to the Doctors and all who contributed in his care while in Trail. In lieu of flowers all donations can be made to the Trail Hospital Foundation.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 1st at 11:00am at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Trail followed by a reception in the Gathering Room. Sarah Vass of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements. You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence by visiting the family’s register at www.myalternatives.ca
