Darrah, Robert (Bob) James
September 1950 – July 10, 2019
It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of Robert (Bob) James Darrah. Bob passed away peacefully with his family at his side after fighting a courageous battle with bladder cancer – a battle he was sure he could and would win.
Bob served with Canadian Pacific Police Service for 29 years. He joined their force in Toronto in 1971 and policed at CP Air, CP Hotels and CP Ships. He was transferred to Revelstoke, B.C. in 1984 as the head of security for the Rogers Pass Tunnel Project. This was a huge move for our family and we listened to the stories he told of the bears and other wildlife that passed by his office window every day in the National Park. In 1987 he finished in Revelstoke and was transferred to Calgary where he retired in 2000 at the rank of Detective Staff Sergeant. He truly loved his job! We say “retired” but he went on to work at Canadian Tire, and of late, worked as a professional driver improvement instructor, training Firefighters and Paramedics in partnership with his long-time friend Rod Davis. Bob also served on several of the condo Boards of Directors at Sierras of Evergreen during the fourteen years we have lived here.
Bob is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Eleanor, son Todd (Angela), and daughter Robin (Kevin), grandchildren Spencer, Charleigh, Carly and Emma, sister Rose Marie (Murray), nephew David (Jacki) great niece McKenzie, niece Jennifer, great nephew Landon and several cousins in Ontario. He was predeceased by his parents and eldest sister.
Bob lived a very fulfilling and loving life, was respected and loved by many and will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held July 27th, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at 15 Everstone Dr SW, 2nd Floor, Building “A”, T2Y 5B5.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bob’s memory to the Foundation Office, High River Hospital, Cancer Care Unit, 560 9th Ave SW, High River, AB T1V 1P8
