Myrtis Jean Berringer (91) of Northwest, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, June 10th at Harbour View Haven Home for special Care, Lunenburg.
Born in Bay du Nord, Newfoundland on April 7, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Olive (Hillier) Poole.
Myrtis was a lifelong member of Northwest United Baptist Church where she served as church clerk and choir member for many years. She was a lifemember of the Women’s Missionary Society and supported the work of the church in many other ways. Myrtis was employed at Harbour View Haven for 13 years, working in patient care and as a seamstress.
Myrtis possessed a deep love and respect for all people which moved her to serve her community by volunteering at the Bridgewater Food Bank, Harbour View Haven, LaHave Manor and the Lunenburg Veterans Unit. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She especially cherished her times with her grandchildren. Myrtis was a golden thread of love spun invisibly through all our hearts and lives.
Myrtis is survived by a daughter, Brenda (Randy) Crozsman, New Minas; son, Murray (Donna) Berringer, Lower Sackville; brother, Sheldon (Paula) Poole, Bridgewater; grandchildren, Heather Berringer(Chris Hives), Jennifer Berringer (Adrian Bell), Carrie (Wesley) Rand and Craig (Jenna) Heisler; great-grandchildren, Llewyn and Sullivan Rand; niece, Frances (David) Ernst, Dartmouth and nephew, Steven(Deanna) Poole, Tantallon.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 70 years, Aubrey, and brothers, Bertram and Reginald
Friends are invited to share their memories of Myrtis with her family during visitation on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 from 7 to 9 pm.at the Dana L Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. #3, Lunenburg. Memorial service to celebrate Myrtis’ life will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Northwest United Baptist Church, Northwest, Rev. Gloria Churchill, officiating. Interment will be in Northwest Cemetery.
Flowers from the immediate family only, memorial donations may be made to Northwest United Baptist Church, Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or to any other charity.
