It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Maureen Elizabeth (Marks) Griffin on July 29, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB on September 5, 1942, she is the daughter of the late William and Frances (Doucette) Marks and was the loving wife to husband Gerry Griffin.
Maureen worked for many years with NB Housing as a Tenant Relations Officer before retirement and she was very well respected at her job. She was a member of the Ya-Ya’s By the Sea group and loved getting together with her girls every year for their annual retreat. Maureen had a zest for life. She loved music and loved to dance and was always up for a good time. She had a great sense of humour which will always be fondly remembered. Maureen was very family oriented and her children and grandchildren were the apples of her eye. She will be always remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her husband Gerry, she is survived by her children, Pat Jenkins, Michael (Laurie) Griffin, Suzy (David) Hansen, Angie Jenkins and Jenny (Denis) Perreault; grandchildren, Nicolas (Jordan Richards), Emily (Sam White), Allie, Kate, Matthew, Jacob and Lynne; brother William (Janet) Marks, sisters Judy (Tom) Wilkins and Janine (Ron Fisher) Marks-Daley, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Daniel and her sister Patricia.
Arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). In keeping with Maureen’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. For those who wish, memorial donations in Maureen’s memory made to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by her family.
